The Minister for Industry (1) &(2) and Chairman of the Myanmar\u00a0Investment Commission(MIC) Union Minister U Soe Thein said President U Thein Sein had directed that Yangon should be developed into a modern cosmopolitan city like Singapore and that there are already plans to construct 4 flyovers at the most congested areas like the Shwegondine, Tamway, Bayintnaung and Hledan traffic junctions to facilitate the flow of traffic.
\nHe also revealed that a master plan for the development of Yangon will be drawn up and the Yangon regional government and the Yangon City
\nDevelopment Committee will be responsible for the execution of this plan.<\/p>\n
It is learnt that plans to provide affordable housing for retired government employees, upgrading of sewerage, environmental protection and sanitation in the city and to construct a skytrain for the Yangon inhabitants with the financial and technological assistance from foreign investments are also to be included in the master plan.<\/p>\n
